The cursed voyage of hm berners

Ghouls, mermaids, vampires, jellyfish, and the crew from the disastrous Cursed Voyage of the HMS Berners gathered at the London EDITION to celebrate Halloween.

Hosted by special guests Georgia May Jagger, Kim Jones and Jess Clarke, diners were treated to a sumptuous three-course meal at Jason Atherton's Berners Tavern, whilst meeting a cast of magical sea creatures from whom they learned the tragic tale of HMS Berners. Guests were dazzled with music and entertainment by Nick Grimshaw, Jaime Winstone and Hugo Heathcote.   Two themed Grey Goose cocktails will include the Aegean Spritzwreck, and the Lost Espresso Martini.

Guests also had the chance to win 'treats' at the Mermaid's Trick or Treat Tombola, donated by Dior, Palace, Ralph Lauren, Petersham Nurseries, Jo Wood, Darjeeling Express, Love Brand, LARQ, The London EDITION and Harland Miller.  Funds raised were used to support Project Zero's priority projects.

Concerts for climate
Glasgow

Along with DF Concerts, Project Zero kicked off ‘Concerts For Climate’ with a show in Glasgow alongside the UN Climate Conference COP26. We’re enormously grateful to DF Concerts and Twin Atlantic, Admiral Fallow, The Ninth Wave, Rachel Sermanni, Blue Rose Code, Tamzene and The National Youth Pipe Band who are lending their exceptional voices to help us restore the ocean and turn the tide on the climate crisis.

All proceeds from the “Concerts for Climate” series will fund a global network of projects that protect and restore the ocean and blue carbon ecosystems (mangroves, seagrass meadows and tidal marshes). Learn more about these projects.

Art installation

An enormous outdoor art installation has been unveiled in Carnaby on 22 January. In collaboration with ocean conservation charity, Project Zero, this exclusive for Carnaby includes never-before-seen ocean-themed public art designed by renowned musician and emerging visual artist Boy George, poet Billy Collins and conceptual contemporary artists Mr. Brainwash, Bradley Theodore, Henry Hudson and Zaria Forman.

Adding a vibrant splash of colour to the West End, the work of art, a vinyl wrap measuring at 84.5m long and 11.55m high, has been unveiled to the public in the iconic shopping and dining destination, spanning Carnaby Street, Broadwick Street and Ganton Street. The art installation will be in place until spring 2020.

Each of the art pieces on show address the environmental impact on the ocean, an ongoing focus in Carnaby and part of a continuing collaboration with Project Zero, which has included the 2019 Christmas installation and the Blue Turtle initiative.

The artist’s original artwork is on view at our Project Zero pop up gallery 1 Marshall Street from 22 January until 31 January. The gallery also features unique tee shirts and tote bags created by Project Zero ambassadors including Pixie Geldof, Cara Delevingne, Ronnie Wood, HRH Princess Eugenie of York, Rita Ora, Sienna Miller, Ray Winstone and others.

The original artwork is being auctioned on Paddle 8. We have chosen to support projects in the River Thames with the proceeds from the auction, making a grant to international conservation charity ZSL (Zoological Society of London) and the Thames Conservation Project.

CARNABY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS LAUNCH

We're so excited to collaborate with Carnaby on their Christmas 2019 installation. This year, prepared to be immersed into a theatrical underwater scene, with each street representing an area of the ocean in need of conservation. Journey through the floating kelp forest, into the bright, pink coral and end in the deep, blue sea.

The iconic Carnaby arch will shine brightly in shimmer disks and be sure to snap a shot of our globe encased in a clam at the centre of the art with our message, One Ocean One Planet, to highlight the urgent need to protect and restore the ocean to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change and create a sustainable future for life on Earth.

With materials like repurposed fishing netting for green kelp, the light installation also features over 500m of post-use bubbled wrap repurposed for coral and over 1,500 recycled plastic bottles for fish and bubbles. 100% cotton fabrics and over 100L of water-based eco-friendly, vegan paint has been used for the world-first installation. In addition, the power used for the lights is 100% renewably sourced.

MANGROOVE IN NYC FOR THE MANGROVES

Mangrooooove! On April 29, Project 0 Director Alexandra Richards' beautiful artwork of a mangrove tree brought us all together to celebrate the mighty mangrove to benefit these life sustaining trees in the Caribbean. Hosted by the gorgeous new Paradise Club at the Times Square EDITION, a spectacular time was had by all, dancing to the music provided by DJ Chloe Caillet and Isaac Ferry, with Shelton Lindsay masterfully emcee'ing the evening dressed as a mangrove tree and performances by the Magical Mermaids of the Mangroves. Huge thanks to Ben Pundole and Ian Schrager and the amazing team at EDITION. We're super grateful to Knowlita and Out East Rosé for their passion for ocean conservation and bringing us together to produce Alexandra's design on a beautiful shirt. And to all the beauties that came to Mangroove the night away, thank you thank you!

THE REUSABLES HAVE ARRIVED!
PASS ON PLASTIC POP UP

On November 7th we launched our Pass on Plastic range of products with a limited edition line of products featuring designs by Ronnie Wood, Cara Delevingne, Kate Moss, Princess Eugenie of York, Bob Geldof, Sienna Miller, Will Poulter, Harry Kane, Rita Ora and Fearne Cotton to help people reduce their plastic footprints.  Designed by Matt Smith at Shed Design London, the shop features a total wrap in a confetti-like pattern inside and out. On closer inspection, one can see that sadly the confetti is plastic, mimicking the mess that exists in the ocean. Project 0 is incredibly grateful to all the designers who have given generously of their time and talents, as well as our board, ambassadors and friends who have appeared in social media content and helped to spread the good word, and always show up at launches and shindigs. We're also grateful to Shaftesbury for providing us with the pop-up shop, Fran Cutler and her team for their hard work and party expertise, Ciroq for the delicious vodka, Life Water for keeping us hydrated in beautiful cans, and to Josh Ludlow for providing music for the shop launch.

Our partners EDITION hotels graciously hosted the after-party in the Punch Room, which was transformed into a pirates lair, which was brought to life by sublime tunes by Aimee Philips and Jack Guinness.  Huge thanks to Caroline and everyone at The London EDITION.

And of course, huge thanks to the team at Sky Ocean Rescue who we have partnered with on this journey, who are absolutely committed to cleaning up the mess in the ocean.

Enjoy some pictures!

PASS ON PLASTIC EXPERIENCE
IN THE HEART OF CARNABY

Project 0 is thrilled to announce its partnership with Sky Ocean Rescue to inspire people to join the movement to #PassOnPlastic to stop the ocean from drowning in Plastic. We launched our partnership with a pop up shop in the heart of London's Carnaby, which was generously donated by Shaftesbury. The shop featured windows designed by Luke Nash at Luke Nash Designs with Serena Mattar of Saucy Cow, with each window featuring one of the top 5 single-use plastic offenders: water bottles, coffee cups, utensils, straws and bags. Kristjana Williams provided a beautiful design that was featured on another window, and two others featured CGI fish eyes with the words "Plastic Kills But Never Dies." Artists Kristjana Williams, Paul Karslake and Tess Felix created incredible pieces that were featured throughout the shop. And we are so honored that one of the world's top jewelers, the incredible Ara Vartanian create two shark rings for sale. We celebrated our three weeks at 20 Beak Street with a lot of surprise DJs - from La Roux and Hugo Heathcote on opening night to Raff Law, Jimmy Jagger, Bailey Beats, Mickey Beans; while on the road with the Rolling Stones, Bernard Fowler came by with Darryl Jones and signed his album The Bura. It was an incredible few weeks. Huge thanks to everyone that came in to #PassOnPlastic Together we can really make an enormous difference!

Wave sculptures inspired by the ocean were created by fifty of the world’s most influential artists and culture-makers and displayed throughout New York City from May 20-June 21. These stunning works of art on wave sculptures transmitted the artists' personal joy, hope, and inspiration for the ocean and were sold at a live auction at Sotheby's on June 21, and via Paddle8 through June 23. Net proceeds from the auction will benefit a chain of marine protected areas in the Azores, mangrove restoration in the East Caribbean, and help to fund a sustainability study in the East China Sea. Thanks to all the incredible artists for the beautiful artwork, to La Mer for sponsoring the Wave Walk, and to everyone who bid and went to see the Waves in New York City.
